Tissot has earned a renowned reputation in luxury watch making, spanning more than a 150 year history. Tissot watches were founded in the mid 1800s by Charles-Felicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile in Le Locle, Switzerland. The first mass-produced pocket watch was made in 1853 with two time zones, and the first anti-magnetic watch in 1929-30. Tissot was also the first company to make a watch out of plastic, mother of pearl, wood (the Wood watch) and stone (the Rock watch).

Tissot merged with Omega watches in 1930 to create Tissot-Omega watches, which are now highly sought after by collectors. And since 1983, Tissot has also been a member of The Swatch Group Ltd, the largest watch producer and distributor in the world.

Now present in more than 150 countries around the world, Tissot is the leading producer of the traditional Swiss watch industry. Being sold by 16,000 Points of Sale across five continents, Tissot offers a wide selection of watches to suit diverse functional needs and tastes.

In 1954, the Tissot Navigator was launched with 24 time zones and in 1965 the Tissot PRS516 was released, PR standing for Precision and Robustness. It is still in the current range and remains one of the best sellers. In 2002, the Tissot Le Locle range - named after its city of origin - was launched, closely followed by the popular T-Touch collection.

The T-Touch technology series is directed at different types of watch buyers, with specific features ideal for different activities. Several have touch-sensitive sapphire glass and include compasses, barometers, altimeters and thermometers, and have recently been featured in Hollywood films like Lara Croft Tomb Raider and Mr and Mrs Smith.
